Esteemed Shareholders, Business Partners, and Employees,
In 2022, a year in which we achieved successful results and met our strategic goals, we also witnessed global developments such as war, an energy crisis, and a supply chain crisis. As crises seemed to escalate, companies developed road maps for worst-case scenarios. Despite these challenges, as ŞOK Marketler, we continued to invest in and meet the objectives outlined in our strategic roadmap.
In our current circumstances, it is more important than ever to redesign institutional resilience to cope with uncertainties and increase the capacity to withstand crises; we too are developing strategies within this framework. In addition to resilience, adapting to new trends – and pioneering trends – is critical to success. In the coming years, one of the greatest challenges facing companies will be their ability to effectively deploy digital capabilities to stay ahead of the competition. Understanding and continuously improving the customer experience will also play an important role in moving forward. From this perspective, we prioritize the continuation of investments into digital infrastructure directed towards improving customer experience and service quality.
The years 2021 and 2022 illustrated the need to adapt to change and create new opportunities amid great uncertainty. The pandemic and its aftermath had significant consequences on all levels; as ŞOK Marketler, we are reaping the results of our work during this period, which included combining our technological infrastructure and corporate sustainability principles, and improving the shopping experience. Reaching our customers through every channel, and offering payment options, we were able to make a difference in 2022 as well. Our net sales rose by 108.7%, reaching TL 59.3 billion. With our consistently improving financial performance, we became one of Turkey’s largest 50 companies. As ŞOK Marketler, we have continued - and will continue - our affordable pricing policy.
In making and implementing the operational and strategic decisions that deliver our successful financial results, we also focus on sustainability. In addition to our digital transformation projects, sustainability is among the Company’s most important agenda items, as it is indeed for the entire world. Sustainability will shape competitiveness in the near future.
As ŞOK Marketler, we act in alignment with a human-centered approach, aiming to add value to our country and, by extension, the world in which we live. In line with our vision to become Turkey’s most preferred modern food retailer, we touch the hearts of our 3.5 million customers every day by offering quality and affordable products. In 2022, we achieved another ambitious goal by increasing our total number of employees to 45,293 and the number of stores to 10,281. As we and our stakeholders enjoyed the pride and satisfaction of opening our 10,000th store, we also take pride in our ranking among the top 10 companies with the most employment in Turkey, thanks to the number of our employees.
In 2023, we will continue to work to provide continuous service to all our customers across the country and to deliver quality products at the most affordable prices.
